About a year ago, my friends and I enrolled in the bible school with so much expectation in our hearts. I was very excited. We liked doing our outreaches, we made a great effort with every exam, and we crammed on our bible reading assignments. We enjoyed every moment of our class and we were always left captivated with each revelation we received. I am certain our teachers could still remember our glowing faces and broad smiles with each beautiful discovery about our great and magnificent God. With all these things happening to us, at the end of the day we still have that undeniable question within . . . why did I enroll in a bible school?
A few years back, I met a colleague in a local university. We were both hired by the institution and were assigned on different hospitals as preceptors. In one of our faculty meetings, he invited me to attend the worship service at a local Christian church. During that instance, my husband was looking for a full gospel church, and that invitation came at the right time . . . at a perfect moment. Indeed, everything happens for a reason. Never have I imagined that a simple, casual invitation could change my life forever. I became a Born-Again Christian, built my faith through the Word of God, and developed my relationship with the Lord more intimately.
Attending a bible school has never ever crossed my mind. It was not included in my plan; however, it is carefully laid out in God’s blueprint of my life. Every season that take place in our life, every circumstance, and every person we meet along the way are perfectly orchestrated by God. My classmates would attest to the fact that I am quite a busy person. Every day, I juggle with work, postgraduate studies, business, motherhood, and being a wife. Then I added into it, the bible school. My friends think I am a superwoman, without them knowing, I only rely on a great God who gives me the wisdom to triumph over every area of my life. Going to bible school has never been a burden. It was actually my time to rest with the presence of God. As the Word is being taught, the Holy Spirit ministers to me and renews my strength for yet another challenging day ahead. By the grace of God, I made it through; we made it through this day. I am glad that I chose this path and begun my travel towards God’s ultimate purpose in my life which is for the glory of His name. All of us have a purpose on travelling here on earth. Our purpose is our reason for existence. We do not exist for ourselves alone, we have a mission to accomplish in this life; and that mission is our calling. God called us to share the gospel to the poor in spirit, to show love to our brothers and sisters, and in the process, expand His kingdom. It could be an overwhelming task, but all things can be done only for God, through Jesus Christ, and with the Holy Spirit. Our walk should be always in line with His Word and in obedience to His instructions. God will be with us every step of the way. He will always give us the grace to do what he has called us to do. He is faithful and true to provide everything we will ever need in fulfilling His wonderful plan for us.
I will never forget the wonderful experiences I had with the Word Institute. Revelation upon revelation that transpired on the Word of God is truly amazing. With every revelation, it came to me like rain that showers and gives life to something that is dry and dead within me. There was an inexplicable joy felt. I was captivated by God’s goodness and power, my faith leveled up, and the impossible became possible right before my very eyes. The Word has changed me, my dreams, and my relationships, especially with my husband. I thank the Lord for giving me a very supportive husband and through the bible school we became more spiritually connected to each other. God is just so great. It was my prayer that my husband would grow old and mature with me spiritually. It is happening. God truly fulfills our aspirations in life. The things I have learned in bible school made me whole. It has left me with an admiration of how awesome God’s love is for us. I was drawn closer to our Father and the Holy Spirit is my favorite companion. The awards and accolades that we may receive today are just a windfall. Nothing compares to all the revelations we have received that has deepen our relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.
As someone who has chosen this path of life, I enjoy this moment of triumph, of joy, and excitement. However, the true challenge still lies ahead. I may find myself on the crossroads once again. Some of us may be standing on that huge, vast crossroad; unsure, undecided where to go. One road leads to the fulfillment of our purpose where God called us to be; and the other road leads to uncertainty. Which road are we going to take? Everything we have learned in the past from people who made an impact in our life, our teachers and mentors, are meant to equip us to become committed, faithful, and obedient servant of God. Our journey with God does not end in being successful with just a fraction of our dream in tr life, crossroad; unsure, undecided where to go. ; I say it is only the beginning of yet another meaningful season of our life. We have to reach out, share the gospel; allow ourselves to be used mightily for the kingdom of God. We have a work to do on the path towards our destiny . . . remember that we don’t work alone; we work together, in one accord . . . with Jesus Christ. He leads, He guides, and He counsels us through. As Elisabeth Elliot says, “The will of God is not something you add to your life. It’s a course you choose. You either line yourself up with the Son of God…or you capitulate to the principle which governs the rest of the world.”
